I've has many fuel pump problems on all my late 90a cheats and replace fuel pumps and worked for a week n broke down again so replaced entire fuel pump assembly. I'd start with the fuel filter its a cheap start n always good to have a new one.
have to hit the gas 3 or 4 times to get it started
