the steering wheel has to be just so, and needs to rotate around till it is 'parked'- try makin it straight up and down, turn the key back and turn the steering wheel until it turns all the way back and releases your key.

Same happened to me in my 99 explorer. It's a sign the tumblers are getting worn. The locksmith told me individuals who keychain looks like a jailers from Alcatraz suffer most from this problem. He suggest not placing every other key you own on the same ring with the ignition key. Anyway, changing the cylinder is no big problem. Unless there is a chip in the old key, then the lock and new key will have to be programed. One note. On the 95's if you opened the door from inside, slam it then re-enter you will have to recycle to door locks to open-lock-then open for the vehicle to start. The locksmith kept re-programing the key because it would not start after programing. While he sat behind the wheel scratching his head, I took the key fob, cycled the lock-unlock, and it started right up. Seems the procedure is unique to 95 ford products.

I have a 2006 F-150 XLT 4x4, and I had a mechanic take a look. He showed me on the steering column (with covers removed) there's a tab where the shifter notches itself, you know when you pull the shifter back toward yourself to go into either a lower gear, reverse, or park. Well, on mine, the tab was bent, and it prevented the shifter to go fully into the park position. The trans would go into park fine, but the shiter wouldn't "lock" into that position, so it could be easily bumped, causing the trans to g out of park (dangerous with kids in car...) So I have to get it replaced, it's the full shifting assembly, or I could take the covers back off again, and try bending that tab back again, but it'll only work a few times before it breaks off... Have it checked at a trusted mechanic.

Not going all the way into park. Try pulling toward yourself and up at the same time, while turning ignition switch off, then remove key.
