If the bell housings measure the same, only question would be the length of the output shaft, and the mounting holes~ most of these mysteries can be solved by simply measuring. Another consideration is the fuel tank size, when I went to a 400 Chevy motor from what was a 235 six cylinder, the fuel tank was small, and had to stop every two hundred miles on a long trip...another consideration is power steering as that steering wheel is hard to turn with all that extra weight up front- In my experience this can be done, but not without a few complications.

If they both are AOD or E4OD they will work no problem. The bolt paterns and length are the same. However, keep the same converters with each other. The E4OD has a higher stall range. It also has Electronic Overdrive and needs the computer to shift it. The AOD is Automatic Overdrive and has only a backup light plug on it and will need a LOW volume vacume from your intake.(plus vac line)

Yes will fit, frame mounts will need to be changed for the motor. You'll gain some bottom end power with the 6, but probably lose a little fuel economy as the 4.9's aren't noted to be fuel efficient.

All you need to do is measure the distance between the top two bolts. But the motor won't fit in the truck. A v8 won't go where a i6 sits.
