Fuel Gauge not working.

I have a 1991 F-150. with the single back tank in
it. The gauge was reading way past full so i
changed the sending unit. now it’s reading
empty. but when its turned off it goes up to 1/4
so i have no clue whats going on.

You said you changed the sending unit. Do you mean the float in the tank? That's what picks up the amount of fuel in the tank. Yours may be stuck up in the full position
