Does anyone know why my truck won't start?

Asked by Mark Nov 18, 2020 at 09:29 PM about the 1994 Ford F-250 2 Dr XL 4WD Standard Cab LB

Question type: General

My 94 f250 5.8 will not start. Engine turns over
with good compression. BEFORE IT HAD THIS
ISSUE I changed the valve cover gaskets as
they  had small leaks. In. Order to do that (
because its fuel injection) i had to disassemble
the intake system, throttle body throttle body air
intake manifold ect. I replaced throttle body
gaskets and air intake gaskets as well. Put it all
back together just the same and it will turn over
but not start. I thought I may have hit the
distributor and knocked it out of timing but
even when adjusting the distributor it won't
start. My friend is coming by tomorrow with a
timing light but I honestly think it should still
statement if it runs rough it should start. It use
to crank on a dime. Vacuum lines also are
hooked up correctly. Check plugs and firing
order a dozen times.any thoughts?

You had to remove all that to get to the valve cover gasket? Or are you meaning the metal head gasket?

If u didn't touch the sparkplug wires or distributor, check for loose or wire connector plugs or hoses that u might've accidentally disconnected or missed to connect back on.

This is a TFI ignition system and if you don't have spark to the spark plug wires watch this video for understanding what could be the problem providing you do have fuel pressure that is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmcCVQK87TU

To check for fuel pressure. when you turn on the ignition to the start position you should here the fuel pump turn on and off a few seconds later meaning it is pressurized. On the fuel rail you should have a schrader valve . when you push in the center of it fuel should come out under pressure providing no problem with the fuel pressure regulator
