tempiture gauge needle problem

hi i have a 2003 chevy s10 blazer when i turn the key off the tempiture gauge needle goes down the way is supposed to do and after the interior light goes off the tempiture gauge needle will shoot up past 210 until i open the driver side door then the needle goes down then i shut the door and the interior light goes out the needle goes back up past 210 and stays there
