1996 E320 with a built in phone I'd like to remove

I have a 1996 E320 with a built in phone.    I'd like to remove the phone but 1) I don't know how, and 2) I don't know what is available to put in its place.  Any help?

Typically not much to be put in the place of these built-in phones. They can be removed by just cutting the wires and taking out the mounts, but with the advent of better wireless, etc., there's no point in trying to replace them.
