Has anybody had "smoke" in the exhaust of a 300SD 1992, after a full engine repair?

Asked by francisco300sd1992 Sep 08, 2014 at 11:04 PM about the 1992 Mercedes-Benz 300-Class 4 Dr 300SD Turbodiesel Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After doing a full engine repair (by a very competent) mechanic, there is a significant
amount of "smoking"... and oil comsumsion..??
DOES ANYBODY KNOWS ANY THING ABOUT THIS...?

1 Answer

That's exactly what he told me, and we were hoping for, but after about some 20 K miles, still consumes about 1 QT of oil per full tank of diesel. Do not know about the rings...Engine is strong and fast to take off too...but the smoke, do you think it could be the Vacuum Pump.. don't have a clue...I appreciate and value your opinion, THANKS.
