Headlights staying on

I have a 2006 Toyota Tundra SR5 Double Cab v8 truck. It does not have
daytime running/automatic lights feature on it. The headlights stay on even
with the headlight switch in the off position and the engine turned off. I have
to disconnect the battery to get the lights to go off. When i reconnect the
battery, The headlights stay off for a few hours and then come right back on
again, even with everything off. I have replaced the headlight relay. I have
also checked all the fuses, bulbs, and wires, which are all fine.

If the switch is on the steering column I would also suspect a wiring problem in the steering column.

Had this exact issue. 2005 Tundra. Headlights would turn off when I turned them off at the end of my trip, but then would turn on automatically within a short period of time and just stay on. Replaced dimmer (headlight) switch assembly on the column and it resolved the issue. On the 2005 this is a 7 minute job (part=$65 delivered) taking out 3 1/2" screws to the steering column sheathing (you have to turn steering wheel to access two of the screws) which gives you full access to the switch assembly. And then simply unplug and replace switch assembly. My thinking was that fuse/relay don't control headlights to turn them on; they can only fail to turn them on if blown. Not my issue. Do not try to turn this into an 8 minute issue--you will not succeed.
