when replacing the timing belt will I afterwards have other mechanical problems due to the stress caused with a new part.

Shouldn't. There should be a tensioner on the timing belt system to make sure there's always proper tension. The problem is that when you replace the timing belt, if you're just one tooth off, it's not going to start or if it does, it'll probably run like crap and backifre. Be super careful so you don't have to go back and rework
