CHECK ENG light came on -Auto Zone's scanner didnt work where could i find code?

got a old tercel with 220,000 miles on it  no transmission dipstick
where could i get one?  also  are the V6 engines sturdy enough to go 300.000
miles?

Try junk yards for a dip stick but I think your car has a 4, not a V6. Care for you car at it could go 300k if it is in good shape now.
