I was told i have a timing chain not a timing belt. Is this true? 172,000 miles, and i'm worried! How can i tell?

2001 TACOMA CARRIES A TIMMING BELT 3400 CC ENGINE IF YOU HAVE A BLACK PLASTIC TIMMING COVER IT IS BELT DRIVEN

It has a belt, buy a water pump also. My 3.4 also needed the tensioner replaced. Do not go cheap on these parts.
