The maintenance required light based on mileage can be reset on your dash menu. Just change it to the mileage you prefer - 5000 between oil changes is quite adequate. It is not based on last serving - just based on your odometer since the last time it was zeroed out.

time since last servicing doesnt matter alot of times people dont reset the light anyways the vehicle doesnt know when the oil was changed unless the light is reset. I havent seen one come on at a certain mileage everytime. Time could be a factor, but it mostly takes into account engine running conditions and determines when it should turn the light on.
