O2 sensor or transmission?

I recently purchased this vehicle and was
told it needed a o2 sensor on the catalytic
converter. But I can't get the van to go over
50 mph on the interstate and it seems like
it's more than just a sensor needed. Any help
is appreciated!

Normally if you had a bad sensor you woukd get a check engine light...but I have seen cars with bad o2 sensor not able to get up to speed
