"TRAC OFF" and VSC TRAC"

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My "TRAC OFF" and VSC TRAC"
light on dash has read off for 6
months or more. I have a TRAC OFF
switch, but it doesn't turn on or off.
The 4x4 switch next to it works. Is the
TRAC OFF actually off? Does it affect
the steering, traction or braking? I’ve
been sliding more than usual on
snowy/ice roads and it makes a
grinding noice when it has NO
traction.  I also noticed over 6 months
ago when the light came on that
driving in high winds was more
challenging. I’ve tried turning  Engine
off and neutral and the other
suggestions. Could the TRAC
OFF/VSC TRAC affect my traction
and/or braking?

Scan for codes locate which wheel speed senor or harness has failed of course this disables ABS braking system along with traction control function.
