Power WIndow Regulator and motor.

Asked by Bob Dec 19, 2016 at 10:43 AM about the 2001 Toyota RAV4 Base 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The drivers side window on my 2001 Rav4 stopped working. I was able to wiggle the glass and get in the up position. My question is if I buy an new regulator does that include a new motor or can I just replace the motor and keep the same regulator. The youtube video I watched he said he just replaced the regulator but when I look at parts they have both regulator and motors listed for sell. I an not sure what I need to buy.

Open the door panel, and test the motor you have after disengaging it from the regulator. If it works, keep it. You can buy just the regulator for less than one with a motor. You can try getting one from a salvage yard, but most places won't piece out doors, they prefer to sell the entire door intact, so you have to find one from a damaged door. Keep calling all the local yards, someone somewhere will have the regulator. Same applied if it's just the motor you need and not the regulator.
