Should I change all my lifters on my 2002 toyota corolla ce or is there a cheaper way to fix the noise?

Like I stated, I have a 2002 Toyota corolla ce with over 200 K miles on it.. but had changed engine for a off the boat used engine with 62 k miles on it and have added over 140 k additional miles on it. My mechanic says change the lifters, should I???

Are there lifters at a lower cost of $14 each for a 2002 Toyota Corolla CE out there???

OK now some of the 1.8Liter 1 ZZ FE , the Corolla engine you have were used in other cars..GM...and use a "bucket tappet' not shown on these images that goes over the valve spring. If they wear some mechanics use shims instead of buying new, they are $180 for the full 16 piece set $11.25 each
You can make this image bigger and see it does not have "lifters' in the conventional sense, this is the 1.8Liter 1 ZZ FE that came in all Corollas from 1998 to 2012, with the rare exception of the Corolla XRS Trim with the high performance 1.8L 158hp 2AZ FE
