Depends on what is wrong with engine. a fair-to-good shape Camry 2002 w/ 175k miles goes for about $5-6k, V6, I4 a little less. Now, if that knocking is serious, like a thrown rod or anything like that with 175,000 miles, an engine installed V6 about $4k, complete long block, good as new. Used engine cost about $1700. Funny how every used Toyota engines always have 30,000 miles on them. Every time. Fact is there is no way to prove mileage on an engine already out of a car...but the only 2002 Camry engines to be found are from side or rear impact wrecks, the rest of them are still on the road. So, if you are able and willing to put an engine in it, you can get $7-8,000 ..with new engine. If as is, maybe $1000. Folks besides junk yards don't want cars with bad engines, (opps, sorry Automotive Recyclers. Must be PC) and they will give you $500 maybe
