Excessive vibration in 1999 Toyota Camry

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi,
My 1999 Toyota Camry has 137K miles on it and the car vibrates excessively between 30
MPH @ 2000 RPM and 70 MPH @ 2500 RPM.  The vibration is so bad that I can feel it in
the gas pedal, seat belt/rear view mirrors starts vibrating and lastly it's so loud that I
cannot hear the radio or talk.  Ironically this vibration goes away when below 30 MPH and
70 MPH.   Any explanation for the possible reasons of this would be highly appreciated.

You might want to try this. Drive this vehicle to the speed of worst vibration then shift the tranny into neutral . If the vibration changes or disappears, you likely have a drive train problem. If the vibration persists...you likely have a bad tire or tire balance problem. When these tire vibrations occur most garages will swap tires from front to rear and see if the Vib. changes location.

You could also check and make sure your calipers aren't stuck or locked onto your rotors I just had that happened to my car

I know this is a long time ago, but if this helps someone, cool. My 99 Camry had an engine vibration at 2000rpms that was getting bad. I could feel it in the accelerator pedal and the steering wheel. I did a timing belt swap including the tension and idler bearings and water pump, and the vibration went away.
