Gauges and radio turned off while trying to shift out of park.

I started my car and sat there for a minute or two
before attempting to press in the brake and shift, but
when I did the gauges and radio turned off and i
couldn't shift. I can still turn the car on so the engine
runs. The previous owner installed a bulldog security
system and the box and all the wires falls out under
the steering wheel console so it could be that. Any
help?

Bingo... Wiring for aftermarket security systems can be complicated and I wouldn't trust the average slob to correctly install them..... You've got some fixing to do.

If this issue was triggered by you pressing on the brake pedal.....turn on the parking lights.....look into the trunk ....check the wiring harness on the left side....wiggle the harness and then have someone else attempt a normal restart. And see if tour rear lights flash on and of.. Common problem whereby that harness develops problems such as your concern. Definitely get back to us on this one.
