1997 TOYOTA camry motor shifted while replacing top mount.

You might be able to jack up the engine (use a wood block) or use a cherry picker.

Tried to jack up engine.would not budge.

It all depends on which way it shifted. You may need a pry bar.

I may not be understanding the problem you're having, but there are 3 other mounts that keep the engine from shifting; a front hydraulic or gas shock mount behind the radiator, a rear engine rubber mount and a transmission rubber mount. The dog bone is the only top mount which keeps the engine from rocking/twisting under load. To simply disconnect the dog bone and have the engine "shift" on you must mean the other mounts are totally fkt... you're lucky the engine didn't shift while you were driving it. My advice is to inspect the rear and transmission mounts first and see if any of the rubber in them is blown out. If so, buy a mount kit that has all 4 mounts or just the one you need. You can get them anywhere from Amazon to eBay (but be careful and don't get used ones or the cheapest ones you can find). New kits are pretty inexpensive and there are tons of good videos on YT to show you how to replace them quick and easily. It's not hard if you're good with hand tools and you have a jack.
