Alternator Battery Light

Asked by Roy Oct 02, 2018 at 12:10 PM about the 1995 Toyota Camry LE Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While I had the Alternator removed and set on top
of the engine 2.2L it fell off and stretched the 3
wires attached the the Alternator's voltage
Regulator pulling down the wire insulation
exposing an inch of bare wires. When I attached
the Alternator  and started the engine it shorted
out the Regulator, and the Battery Lights
constantly. I replaced the Alternator and 4" of the 3
wire plug (Blu/R, W, Y) with one from the Wrecking
yard. Used Alternator was 14.2 volts, and Battery
was 12.5 volts--OK. But Battery Warning Light is
still on??? The wire schematic shows a diode next
to the Battery Warning Light--did a short it out?
Where do I find this diode? Is it on the Instrument
Panel? Or what else could be causing the Battery
Warning Light to stay on?

The 7.5 fuse was broken from ignition. It was not visible-- needed to test it. New fuse fixed the problem and warning light turned off.
