98 toyota 4runer starts and runs but will not idle

the vehicle will run as long as it stays above 1000 rpm it runs good until you put it in gear then dies or if the rpms go below 1000 rpms it kind of sounds like a vacuum leak to me what do you think it has the v6 3.4 ltr in it

Possibly vacuum leak, dirty or faulty idle air control valve or dirty throttle plate.
