can't figure out why my egr hose is suckling at idle

I have a 92 4runner 3.0 v6 manual 4x4
183k mi.
I have a brand new egr and new vacuum modulator  
and hoses! I can only drive with the hose off the
egr or it dies. I was told it should only be suckin
when truck is at hwy speed. any other ideas?
as you know it's always something.
as a side note we also replaced and bypassed the
knock sensor and the check engine light will not go
off. the only code is 52 and I can't seem to find the
corrilation .

Just have to ask, are you sure the vacuum lines to the EGR are not switched? For code 52: Knock Sensor Circuit (open or short in circuit) will never go away if you bypass the knock sensor. I understand tho that is a popular thing to do on older Toyotas according to some of the forums I visit.

Yes I'm sure they're not switched. And the hose is suckling to hard for being at idle. And the symptoms of a knock sensor are still there as far as lag in the motor.
