Fuses are next only because they're easy, if all the lights are out I would look for a rear wiring harness plug in disconnected or a bad ground wire. Did you use the correct bulbs?

I didn't notice you specifically said brake lights, after fuses check brake light switch then harness connectors

Brake light switch . Inside up on brake pedal. Check for proper alignment then if no joy R&R the switch. Easy repair.
