03 outback vdc Mac head unit problem

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On the Mac head I only get static on weather band.
Sometimes can control volume but no other buttons
work. Any ideas?  I can't find a replacement unit
and the aftermarket ones are $500+.

I certainly do NOT recommend that you pay more than the $100 going rate for a used Pana/Clarion OE head unit for your old OB. Outside of CD transport screwups these were godd-sounding head units. I may still have one in the back of my garage if you want one...can't remember....

the car has the Machintosh head unit. I have heard that Subaru discovered a defect with some of these installed and were covering the replacement...
