Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It doesn't happen all the time but I have noticed it when its raining and wet out. When I
shut the car off and remove the key, sometimes the car will try and restart. I hear the
engine try and turnover, the headlights, interior and dash lights will turn on and off.
Sometimes it sound like the engine is grinding. Usually it takes 20 minutes or so for it
to stop. Sometimes while its doing this if I try to start car with key it will not start. I do
notice if after removing the key I don't hear a "click" noise it will also happen. The
dealer had it happen to them once in 2009 and said it was the power control module.
The car was under warranty then and it was replaced.

Do u have a remote starter? Is your ignition cylinder loose and wiggly? ( where the key goes ) equinox uses a key sense built into your ignition switch that sends a signal to pcm to start vehicle. You may notice that on newer cars like this one, the engine seems to start itself when you turn the key. Old vehicles require u to hold the key on closing the starter circuit which sends power to starter untill the vehicle starts. Anyways.... Im pretty sure you need an ignituon switch. Yours has an internal short causing an intermittent condition. If u have a remote start option it may be a win module problem ( wireless ignition node ) you need chevy scan tools to diagnose a win module Good luck!
