I turned my 97 Subaru legacy 2.5gt off. When I tried to restart it everything was dead!!! It was like the battery wasn't hooked up. I took the keys out and walked in the house. I looked outside and the tail light were on and the front amber lights were on. I tried to start it and nothing. I cleaned the battery posts but it didn't help. I unhooked the positive cable and put the key in the ignition and turned it on in order to hook the positive cable up. It started just fine, however the running lights are still on and the dash lights are blinking! I turned the engine off and the running lights were still on and the dash lights were still blinking. I had to unhook the positive cable to stop this process. Can anybody out there point me in the right direction??? 1 Answer

The 2 catalytic converters (both on same pipe) on my 2001 Subaru Legacy L were hanging down from one end, scraping pavement. I drove it to shop (1 mile). Shop said pipe broke and I need new converters. I asked if they could just hang converters and pipe back up? Shop said converters were too beat up from scraping on ground. I had family in hospital and no time so I took the shop's word for it, cost of $1,085. Got the old parts back. The converters were not beat up, dented or anything. A mechanic friend said they looked fine (he doesn't work on Subarus but was sure they were fine. Pipe was broken in short area between one converter and the flange that holds it to car. Could shop have welded that? 3 Answers
