Not really enough info to go on. Is it a single clunk or a recurring clunking as you drive? Check the tires for bulges (broken belts). Pull the wheels and look for anything loose or rub marks.

2006 Chevy Cobalt LS 2.2l Clunking noises while driving, sounds like driver side area. Does not clunk when stopped at a light. Clunks over bumps, clunk while driving straight on road while wheel shakes also. Clunks when I’m braking also. Any opinions on what I should check out first?

The answer boils to different options that a mechanic have to determine. I usually pay for the trouble shootings part and then decide who will replace the part (price shopping). One, lower control arm and ball joint (usually get that drifting feel at highway speeds). Two, the links (disconnect top bolt and see if loose). Three, bearing (take it in the parking lot and drive a faster than idle and then make sharp turns...if you hear a low hum when turning then bad). Four, strut (only a mechanic can figure that one...usually is the top bearing). Finally, the CV Joint (listen for clicking or pull on it to see too much play). The only other possible cause (other than tire) would be the brake caliper (check when cold...grab it and see it moves).
