Cobalt 2006 LS keeps shutting off

Asked by Kiahna Aug 21, 2019 at 07:56 AM about the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LS Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I’ve recently got the recall for the ignition
switch, because the car was shutting off
while I was at a light or stop sign. I read up
about it and seen it was the recall so I took it
in and since then it’s been shutting off at
least once a day. It’s literally so scary and I
don’t have the means to buy a new car. If any
one has any idea that’ll be great.

It sounds like idle issue to me. If you have tac/throttle actuator control, check that. Check for applicable trouble codes? I saw some po codes as well as manufacturer specific codes for that system. You might clean the throttle bore, see if it helps? Don't force the throttle plate.
