no heat with antifreeze smell

my 06 gran prix 3.8 superchager sittin outside while i was in class. i come from class
turn the car on n wait for my windows to defrost. while waitin i noticed the car heated
up but the air never did. i checked out the oil and the coolent levels both are good. i
can smell slight antifreeze soon as it heats up(which dont take long) but the car doesnt
overheat just runs hot. now i was thinkin the thermostat but the fans come on with no
trouble. i asked my brother whom is a mechanic what it could b. he says sounds like
the intake gaskets. is he correct

i smell it from inside. and no leaks. i just filled the water/engine coolant tub let it run and the levels never changed. there is no sign of leakage either.

Sounds l like a very minor leak. Put some Bars Leak into the system. It doesn't hurt your cooling system and works very well on minor leaks.

Put the Bars Leak directly into the radiator. There are instructions on the bottle. Just read and obey.

If you have done nothing to the coolant system in recent past and are not losing cooling fluid, it could be the solenoid motor on the heater box under dash. It closes to push air through heater coil. Feel the carpet under dash and flour mats for moisture.
