04 Pontiac grand prix gt2 exhaust problems! Help!

My 04 grand prix gt2 is having a bad exhaust
fume problem. The fumes are strong inside the
car and ive seen in the early morning the exhaust
smoke rising from the trunk about 2 weeks ago. i
have to drive with the windows down. And will
have my son in 5 weeks. Looking where the
problem parts can be so i can quickly get them
replaced before he gets here.

It's usually the pipe behind the converter and the normal fix is to replace the entire exhaust from the converter back although if you have the time to take the pipes and muffler apart you can save some coins but keep in mind the muffler and tail pipe will be next.

Any good muffler shop can evaluate it and make the repairs you need. If you're on a tight budget let them know and they'll often work with you and do it as cheaply as possible. If money's not an issue do what they recommend. Patching up an old exhaust system usually costs more in the long run.

Thanks. Just had a free inspection on it and found a hole in each muffler and the converter is all banged up
