My car

Asked by Jaywill662 Jun 12, 2016 at 08:48 AM about the 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT2

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had anew key transponder programmed to
my car and during the programing the tech
notified me that the battery was old and will
have to be replaced eventually. Two days
later the abs ,traction control, and the
steering control light came on. Can the old
battery and the new key have anything to do
with why these lights suddenly started to
come for

The old battery can cause lots of these type symptoms. The NEW key has nothing to do with these..lights being ON.The tech was knowledgeable enough to check the battery before beginning the work like every tech should DO! and I'm sure he used a stable power supply when he flashed a new code into the PCM.. just have the vehicle scanned after the NEW battery is installed ...

Agree. Modern cars need a strong power supply at all times. When they get weak all sorts of weird and wonderful things can happen. Put in a new battery before the old one leaves you stranded and all will be well once again I'm sure.
