Bad Gas Mileage/ Bad Fuel Level Sensor

My 2004 Grand Prix GT Has A Busted Fuel Level
Sensor. I Can't Tell When I'm Running Out Of Gas.
Just Bought The Car For $600 So Work Has To Be
Done. Changed The Cam And Crank Sensor. It Had
A Very Bad Stopping Problem. I Found Out The
Wires Connected To Wire Harness By My Coil
Packs Have A Short. Right Now I'm Doing The
Ghetto. I Have A Rope Putting The Right Amount Of
Pressure On It To Where It Doesn't Just Stop And
Not Start Up. My New Issue Is The Gas Mileage. I
Can Literally Just Fill Up And After 10 miles Of
Driving The Display Tells Me My Fuel Is Low. To
Make It Worst The Car Generally Runs Out Of Gas
Fast Leaving Me Stranded. HELP This Is My Only
Transportation And Quite Dangerous

In the short term the solution is painfully simple. Fill the tank. Then refill it every 200 miles. You'll never be left stranded again. As an added safety buy a small 2 gallon fuel jug, fill it and carry it in the trunk as a backup. Make sure its properly secured in the trunk so it doesn't tip over and possibly spill gas all over everything. That should keep you mobile until you can get a few things fixed.
