A can start my 2004 PontiacGrand Am with the remote start, but not by turning the key

Asked by BillB17 Nov 07, 2016 at 08:10 PM about the 2004 Pontiac Grand Am SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I put the key in the ignition, turn it to the on position and all the dashboard lights light up, but the car will not turn over.  I tried with the remote starter and it starts right up. The security light came on for one day about 2 weeks ago, but went off the next day.

Remote start, meaning straight to starter solenoid? Try try starting in in neutral vs parking. If still nothing you need to check the start circuit. Starter relay, ignition switch and safety neutral switch.
