Transmission cooling line leaks

Asked by Lisa Dec 22, 2019 at 10:19 PM about the 2004 Pontiac Grand Am SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 04 grand am 3.4 L that's leaking from the upper transmission
cooling line where it's connectsed to the radiator. I haven't been able to find
any useful information on how to remedy the problem just short of
replacing the upper transmission cooling line and/or a new radiator. This
transmission system is a closed system so it's not ideal to just keep adding
tranny fluid because I have to jack up my car so it's level to make sure I
don't add too much or not enough, especially since the winter months have
just begun n I live in MN. Any suggestions are welcome, thank you.

One fix I can share, is using plumbers white teflon tape on the threads to seal the leak on those lines. Wrap a few layers of the tape opposite the direction of threading it back in. You can also use a liquid high temp thread sealer as well. Loctite 592
