Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was wondering how you replace the igniton switch on a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am? I am having trouble starting it sometimes. I had it diagnosed and the guys at the shop said that this was my first step. I just don't know how to do it myself, and I was wondering if you might be able to guide me through.

Thanks So Much

I would purchase a Haynes manual for your vehicle. Not only will this give you detailed step-by-step photo instructions, but it will give you other important information like how to safely disconnect the airbag while performing this procedure, which is a must. Also, any special tools will be listed. If you've never done anything like this, I would have the garage guys do it -- it's fairly involved in most cases to get the steering column apart far enough to replace these.
