Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The care is a 1999 pontiac grand am se 6 cyl. I had
did a head gasket replacement. I took off the
heads got em machined or what not with a valve
job. So i put everything back together replaced oil
didnt put antofreeze cause i just wanted to make
sure the car would start first. Thr thing is before i is
the head job i was able to jump the car and drove it
into my garage where i proceeded to take the
engine apart. Now its back together all the
connecrions are back in place and it wont start. I
have spark i have compression and air. Fuel is the
iffy thing. I had got 40psi on the fuel rail (rented the
fuel tester from olriellys) when i had poured a lil bit
of fuel into the fuel injectors holes the car started
while the key was still turned over. I didnt mess
with any timing and the rockers and push rods
where put back in place exactly how i took em out.
I had a old jug that i put holes into and marked em
all. Im at a loss. I sprayed some spray into the air
intake and with the throttle opened all the way and
it started and revved (high of course) then i heard a
pop in the engine area. Question is did i screw
anything up and if not what could be my problem
with it not starting?

there are a number of reasons why the motor is malfunctioning. 1. maybe because the MMU (motor management unit) is not sensing antofreeze in the cooling system. I think your main problem is the gas you are not getting enough gas to the injectors, check gas pumps and blocked gas lines, filters etc. you may also have a malfunctioning carbereter. this could be a simple fix check for loose wiring around the injectors and the carbereter. if you had messed up the timing then the motor would not offer to fire when gas was poured in.

Got a new fuel filter on and also disconnected the fuel line in the front to see if fuel was coming out which it was. Im leaning towards injectors being clogged. Id hear the fuel pump kick on and off and id hear the regulator click on and off i can try to put some fluid inside the anti freeze to see if thatd be the problem but it didnt have any before when it started and i drove it into the garage. Cause it had a leaking gasket. I had codes for map sensor and replaced sensor but it kept saying the code so i replaced the fuel injector wiring harness and the code went away.

Funny thing is I'm having the same problem however all I did was tighten the intake as I stripped the side bolt and had to use a heli coil. ..... I had used some bad gas in which caused a huge mess with the pump and lines . Even adter replacing the fuel filter, pump, cam sensor the car won't start. There is a brown/white wire that was rerun/ or just fixed prior to owning the car. It's the first or last wire depending on how your looking at the harness by the powersteering/alt I'm starting to think it's a grounding issue
