HIgh Idle and shaking

Asked by Smith_123 Jan 05, 2015 at 07:37 PM about the 1999 Pontiac Grand Am 4 Dr SE Sedan

Question type: General

I just recently purchased a 1999 Grand am SE 4 cylinder. My car is reading a high idle code and shakes when i come to a stop. Also while driving today all the lights on my dash came on as if my car was restarting itself but my car never shut off. Is it safe to drive my car in this condition for a couple of weeks or is this something that should be fixed ASAP.

Take the bcm out and clean the three terminals and connectors. the body control module is located under the dash on the passenger´s side. sometimes water gets there and causes corrosion and all sort of problems. Good luck.
