2001 Mitsubishi Montero: Brake and Battery Light Come on When Car is Idle

Yesterday I was driving and both my battery and brake light came on when
the car was idle. While idle the lights would sporadically flash on, sometimes
blinking, sometimes staying lit the whole time I was stopped at a red light.
As soon as I accelerate the lights go off, and if I turn the car off and back on
they don't appear. It's only right after I start moving and I'm stopped at a red
light idling.
