2004 Mercury Grand Marquis will not start

Only 60,000 miles and turn the key everything lights up but turn the key to start
and nothing.  Was running cut off and this is what happ[ens.

Possibly a security system problem. Do you have another key you can try? If not, and if the security system is involved, take it to your local Ford Dealer for repair. Jim

Sounds like a starter solenoid issue. You'll still have power to the dash lighting, radio, etc., but the car can die or just not start.

That twenty-one year old ignition switch is defective.

Besides the above, Neutral lockout switch? Try wiggling the shifter while turning the key.
