turning over but will not start

Asked by GuruPH843 Jan 21, 2020 at 03:50 PM about the 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis GS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

started 4.3 grand marque w/70-k miles started as usual. Placed into drive and
the vehicle moved forward @ 2-feet and died. Placed back in park and tried
starting. I can hear the fuel pump activated, starter turns engine but will not
start. Where should I look for correction? Could it be a major fuse? The fuses
under the hood are not identified as to what they are for. Please help.

Tough one. Owner's manual and Google have fuse locations. Doubt if that's it. Check fuel pressure, you'll need to buy or rent a gauge. Fuel filter plugged? Fuel pump not working even though you hear it? A problem with the ECM? If you plug in a scanner, does it throw any codes? Are you getting spark?
