2001 Lincoln Towncar start-up problem

2001 Lincoln Towncar - Thought I lost my keys - had a locksmith come out -
he made 2 keys and tried to start the car - the car made starting noise but
would not start - locksmith said I need my car re-computerized (?!!) - young
locksmith wanted me to pay him $250 for the keys that would not start the
car - I found my keys and the car will not start now! It makes the same noise
as it did when the locksmith tried to start my car with the keys he made. I
NEVER had this problem before and I have owned this car since 2001! What
do I do?

Thank you. You were extremely helpful and very correct. My mechanic referred me to his locksmith who came out and reprogramed my original key and made me a new key. Both keys work now and I can drive my car again. It cost me $115.00. I think that was a very good price and much cheaper than me having my car towed to a dealership and having the dealership re-programming my key. Thank you very much for answering my question. It was very helpful.
