Till you run out of fuel or ruin the fuel pump. Both likely will happen if you run it empty.
There is a very small reserve remaining, about half a gallon after 0 is displayed. You are driving a Towncar, a particularly thirsty vehicle. Towncars average about 13-14 mpg in city driving, so half a gallon of reseve gas would get you right around 7 miles or less, depending on how well your car runs to begin with, and your driving style. As a note, you should try to keep at least 1/4 tank of gas in the car at all times, as the gas actually helps cool the fuel pump.

Actually drove mine about 30 miles on 0 before I was able to refuel. The trick is a light foot and a lot of luck! Fuel pump still works by the way lol. Do I reccomend this? Hell No! But desperate times call for desperate measures lol. I actually have come to believe that the computer is programmed to say 0 to empty with a gallon or 2 left to help the bold who dare drive on E!

If the miles show 00 could that mean your car out of gas if the gauge is broke ?
