Car running slightly hot

Asked by Tessa Dec 29, 2016 at 07:19 PM about the 1998 Lincoln Town Car Executive

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car started smoking and smelled of antifreeze
but gauge didn't say car was hot. It never ran hot
until today it got one dash from the top on the
gauge. So I pulled over and got antifreeze but it's
still smoking and is only a little bit above half way
on the gauge

Check the cooling fans see if they are working by starting the car and turning on your a/c just to see if fans work. If the do, keep car running, turn a/c off and wait til temperature goes up and see if fans turn on. If they don't you have a bad temperature sensor
