Companion Flange for a 05' Grand Jeep Cherokee
I have a transfer case output shaft seal leak and so far Firestone nor Jeep can figure it out. I took it to a man that worked with Dodge for 11yrs and he works on cars in his spare time. He said the only thing he could think of is the companion flange (see pics). My transfer case was replaced less than 3yrs ago, not a factory replacement. I attached the pics, he said he has to get the part from Jeep...is this right? I have like four pics but I can only post one...ughhh
Not a bad idea to get factory parts if you need them. They make something called a redi sleeve it will fit over the seal area on the shaft to make the seal seal better(say that three times fast) anyway it makes a lot of leaks go away, hope this helps
It does look scored... there is a repair sleeve that should be available through most auto parts stores depending on which transfer case you have. I would only use one as a temporary fix if money and time dictate so but it SHOULD buy you a few months at the very least. I've included a screenshot of the part number and hopefully it will apply to you, it's listed the same for all three available engines and drivetrains, you'll see New Process part numbers that it applies to, I hope this helps.
