Transmission or electrical

Asked by Shawn Jan 30, 2019 at 09:25 PM about the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Bought my jeep used. Transmission would
stay in high gear and sometimes shift into
neutral while driving. Had transmission
replaced and it still does the same. It will
shift normal after sitting for a few hours.
Then it acts up again. Was wondering if it
could be electrical problems.

Scan for codes. I think there is some kind of a transmission control module there. If both transmissions did the same thing, then it is not the transmission. Check the shifter linkage too. Might not be fully engaging. Might even be the torque convertor solenoid.
