Asked by 636r Jul 30, 2016 at 08:24 AM about the 1999 Audi A6 2.8 quattro Sedan AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 99 a6 auto 2.8 with no radiator at all.
I replaced the radiator and drained the tranny,
replaced the filter and filled it with new fluid thru
the drain plug and finally turned over the key.....
starts but kinda rough
takes a turn over or two to start then idles but
when I try to give it gas it cuts out and sounds as if
(you know when you hold some cars to the floor
the motor hits that kill sound like it's governed)
then when I met of the gas it dies
the car does have 288k miles,I'm butt deep in it
and my wife is not happy
if any one has any feedback please share with me
asap,thx

Get rid of it ASAP, make your wife happy, even if it means scrapping out an old Audi with a bad engine and all kinds of issues.
