the oil pressure guage on my 2000 grand cherokee has slowly risen to 80, what can cause this

car has 117,000 miles on it, also always ran at 40 on oil guage now almost afraid to drive
it, afraid ill damage the engine, any help would e appreciated. thanks

replace the oil pressure sending unit. If its a 4.7, its above oil filter. same as the 4.0
