Window doesn't move

Asked by tmyl21 Jan 03, 2011 at 07:26 PM about the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The driver side window suddenly doesn't operate any longer?  It seems like the
switch on the door clicks to move the window but it doesn't move at all....Is the
problem a faulty motor in the door?  If so, is it a big job to repair on my own?

I have no experience on this particular vehicle but it sounds to me like an off track cable or one of the sheer components (federally mandated piece of the system designed to fail if the window begins to clamp on something its a safety thing) but it definitely sounds mechanical to me also take into consideration sometimes the door panel clips and shims break when trying to uninstall them so be prepared to possibly need to buy a new interior panel or live with an improper fitment

its the typical wj window regulator. pull the door apart, and replace it. will be goods as new. no. the hardest part will be putting the christmas tree pins back to they way they were

i would check first to see if you even have power going to the window motor, i had the same thing happen to me and the wries were frayed inside the boot, not saying it isn't the motor, but i would check to see if you have power first. its an easy thing to check before messing with trying to replace the motor.
